Hi Michael, plasma cutters are very quick, clean and easy to use, on almost any metal unlike oxy, BUT the ad men have good imagination and make claims like fishermen ! when it comes to depth of cut be very causious and try to get all tecnical info, most important get circuit diagrams, they may prove invaluable if in due course you have any trouble ! The big plasma can actually generate more heat from the gimbal on the electric meter than the machine.ĭo you know the Ebay supplier of your plasma cutter? It would be nice to save £150. I have a big plasma, 200 amp, 3 phase which will cut 16mm and sever 20mm but to be honest this little one gets more work than the big one because it's so easy to use and economical.
If you can keep the feed constant and steady the cut at 3mm is very close to laser cutting. Think I paid about £240 for mine off Ebay. where it comes into it's own is around 3mm - 5mm. I have one of these and it's awesome but mine only goes up to 8mm which at that thickness looks like oxy cutting. Sounds lik a variation on the Generic Cut 40 plasma cutters. Have done a search on the Internet and nothing bad has shown up. Has any body got any information about the company or product - good or bad? This plasma cutter is for sale at £400 from TW Wholesale Swadlincote and I am thinking of buying one!
